Just on Thursday over breakfast I had a chat with Matt about concert/show disasters, and I told him about my Oasis at Heaton Park generator fiasco.
In future discussions on the same topic, I can talk about how Morrissey cancelled his Liverpool concert after being hit by a (plastic) bottle of beer. Yes kids, he performed ‘This Charming Man’ as opener, followed by a new song, and not half way through that, he walked off the stage. And after a 10 mins wait, a stagehand came out on stage to announce cancellation.
*sigh*
Mozza, I sacrificed quite a bit for this. so.. really?
*sigh*

Heard after the concert:
“Well, think of it this way, we might be able to catch the tail-end of the X-Factor show”
“I hope they refund this. I need money”
“Are you married”
“No. But thank you for reminding me I had a wife”
Can’t say much since I caught the endtail of the show, starting at Flizzow’s performance, but here’s the issue, 8TV, Sean Kingston? Really? The man was obviously lip-syncing on stage and I think you people could’ve spent the money better by paying the local acts a bit more. Isn’t this supposed to be an award show for local musicians. Have faith, 8TV. You spent thousands if not millions for this award show and you won’t even let the real stars shine! Talk about getting your money’s worth.
Anyway, Congratulations to the winners! Bunkface, I heard, won big. You boys have come a long long way, and I’m quite proud to be one of the first people to buy your CD.
Well, here’s a confession, I download illegally, but I also buy the same amount of physical music, I attend shows and concerts and I buy band merchandise. What does that make me?
Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ new single ‘Zero’ is out on Youtube. Take a listen. It’s considerably different but IMHO, still on the YYY track. Won’t spoil it too much for you folks. Go ahead, press play.
‘Zero’ should be out on iTunes on Feb 24th (US) and April 6th (UK). The album, ‘It’s Blitz’ will be released on April 13th, Stateside and the day after in the UK.
Also, good news for people in the UK. YYY is slotted to play at T in the Park this year. Woohooo!
Here’s a message from WordsManifest of The Rebel Scum/The Rogue Squadron:
“What’s good everybody
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but due to a family tragedy involving one of our headlining acts, tomorrow night’s live acts have been called off out of respect.
Don’t get it twisted, The Bomb Shelter is still on for Wednesday, February 11th at 10pm. The only change is that instead of the scheduled live sets, we’re having Headshell Heroes (DJs Jocular, Cliq, Layzr and Intake) put on a dope ass mix set spanning classic boom bap records, some chilled out R&B and maybe even some drum n bass and dubstep.
I’d like to apologize to everyone who’ve been itching to see Emberz of Soul, Samir, Figure of Speech and Apocalypse Dawn, Dark Parade, Triniti and Familyboy get on stage to do their thing tomorrow night. Trust, there will be a replacement show hopefully featuring all these massively talented cats in the future. In the meantime, I hope everyone who planned to come down will still do so. It’ll be a more chilled out event, for sure, but drop by and we’ll get to connect in real time. All of us will be there.
There’s a rumour spreading around town that the frontman of Hujan was beaten down at a gig over the weekend. It’s not true. I repeat, it’s not true. Do me a tiny favour, if you heard it too, tell the person who told you, it’s not true.
